Taylor Swift Announces "First Official Pop Album" 1989!

Taylor Swift has announced that her fifth studio album is called ‘1989’!

Describing the record as her “first documented, official pop album”, it will see Taylor move away from her country music background into 1980s influenced pop sounds.

Named after the year of her birth, ‘1989’ will be preceded by the single ‘Shake It Off’, which was made with Max Martin and Shellback who collaborated on ‘22’ and ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’

Since being uploaded to YouTube yesterday, the twerk-tastic ‘Shake It Off’ video has already wracked up over 3million views.

Directed by Mark Romanek, the ace video sees Taylor play a variety of roles including a ballerina, a hip-hop B-girl, a cheerleader and a Lady Gaga-esque singer.

Introducing ‘1989’ in a webchat yesterday, Taylor said: “I’ve been working on a new album for two years.

“I like to work on albums for two years, because I feel like two years gives you enough time to grow and change ... This is a bit of a rebirth for me.”

Taylor added that it’s unlike anything she’s ever done before: "I woke up everyday, while making this record, not wanting but needing to make a new style of music.

‘1989’ is released worldwide on Monday 27th October. The deluxe edition comes with three “voice memo” song demos that Taylor recorded directly to her phone.

One of the most successful music stars of the Millennium, Taylor has sold over 100million records worldwide.
