ANALYSIS: Taking the lead on the RHI inquiry

By Jordan Moates, POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT

At some point today we will find out who this mystery minister is that will launch an inquiry into RHI

Arlene Foster would not be drawn yesterday on who this would be.

Independent Justice Minister Claire Sugden could be an option to take it away from the DUP, but she has previously said legal advice says she cannot make the move

Who knows, she could have a change of heart…

Another option would be the Secretary of State James Brokenshire.

That would take it out of the hands of local politicians completely.

However, the British Government might be reluctant to get so involved in such a devolved matter.

The most likely choice will be a minister from the DUP and that move would probably be highly criticised as a DUP whitewash.
